STUDIO MORR

Art & Design by May Marschal

I love colours and how they interact with each other. In my paintings I continuously explore this interaction and I truly love this process. Colours are in focus when I paint and my paintings are often full of contrast. The places I paint can be real or not but the colours I use often show how I felt when I experienced a certain place or reveal the mood I was in when I painted the painting.

When I draw, the process is different. I love to get lost in shapes and thin lines. I can sit for hours and the work is soothing and healing. Nature and my everyday life are my main inspirations when it comes to what I draw.

I´m a collector of beautiful things. It can be something I decide to keep in my mind or it can be an actual object that has touched me. It is often the colour or the shape or the mix of both that speaks to me. It can be a beautiful pattern on a textile, it can be sewing details on a vintage dress. My treasures fill my home and workspace and I keep them for inspiration. Some are keepers, some find new homes eventually.

I live on an island in the northern achipelago of Gothenburg, Sweden, with my two sons and our two cats.
